About Rebecca Black Whether it’s behind a microphone or in front of her computer keyboard, Rebecca Black is inspired by her surroundings. So it should come as no surprise that her debut novel is set on Prince Edward Island, where she has lived for a number of years. Her broadcasting career has taken her all across Canada, but now firmly planted on P.E.I., Rebecca juggles freelance voicework from her home studio with writing and publishing books. Rebecca has worked in the communications industry for over twenty-five years, and has also kept busy writing fiction novels and screenplays - one of which, "Discovering Emma", was produced as a low-budget feature film in 1999. A member of the Prince Edward Island Writers’ Guild, and a past member of Romance Writers of America, Toronto Romance Writers, and the Canadian Authors Association, Rebecca’s work has also been published in “Island Living” magazine. Though Rebecca’s interest lies mainly in historical fiction, she came up with the idea for the contemporary romance “From Away” after a few visits to the wind farm at North Cape. “The wind never ceases there,” she says, “It’s rugged and beautiful – the perfect setting for a Maritime romance!” Rebecca claims to have inherited the writing bug from her mother, Edna. “We always understood one another’s need to write, with no promise of riches or glory. It’s a passion, plain and simple.” The author’s works include an historical romance set in Charlottetown in 1864 during the visit of the Fathers of Confederation; and a sweeping tale of two star-crossed lovers from opposing sides who meet in Boston on the eve of the American Revolution.
